Modern life can leave very little space to pause. Between work, responsibilities, conversations and constant notifications, it can be easy to move through the day without noticing how we are feeling, what we are thinking or what we actually need. Introduction to Mindfulness is a two-hour experiential workshop designed to offer a simple and approachable introduction to mindful awareness. Led by Meera Iyer, the session combines guided meditation, breathing awareness, mindful observation and journaling prompts. The intention is not to teach participants to empty their minds or achieve a particular state. Instead, the workshop introduces simple ways of noticing thoughts, sensations, emotions and surroundings with greater awareness. The session is designed for beginners, so you do not need previous meditation or mindfulness experience.

I began exploring mindfulness as a way to create a little more space between what happens around us and how we respond to it. Today, I facilitate introductory meditation and mindfulness workshops using guided practices, reflective exercises and journaling. I enjoy creating spaces where people can explore these practices without feeling that they need prior experience.
